Virgin Australia is to set up a cabin crew base in Adelaide, in what the airline said is recognition of the city’s growing importance to domestic operations.
Creating up to 80 new jobs, Virgin Australia chief customer officer Mark Hassell said: “We have more than 40 flights arriving and departing each day at Adelaide Airport. Having a cabin crew base in Adelaide will create significant benefits for our business, giving us greater flexibility in scheduling flights and crew.
“This decision is a reflection of our growing network, and the confidence we have in the South Australian market,” Hassell added.
Virgin Australia already has around 180 employees based in Adelaide in customer-facing and ground crew roles. The airline has cabin crew bases in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.
Applications for positions in the new cabin crew base are currently open, with the first employees expected to start training in November.
