Applications open for pilot scholarships

written by WOFA | December 3, 2009

Airservices Australia has opened applications for 11 $6000 scholarships it is offering prospective pilots during 2010 which will assist in covering some costs of flight training to either private or commercial pilot licence level.

Airservices will provide the funds, which will be awarded through a number of groups with different criteria. The Royal Federation of Aero Clubs will award four scholarships, which will require candidates to undertake a trial instruction flight with a member flying school to assess their suitability for formal training, with applications closing on February 23 2020. Four scholarships will be awarded by the Australian Women Pilots’ Association to members over 18 years of age who have started flying training, with entries closing on January 31 2010. Finally, three scholarships will be awarded by AOPA Australia.

“We are very pleased to support these organisations and their mutual goals of developing young pilots for the future of Australian aviation,” said Airservices spokesman Rob Walker. “It’s important we continue to promote entry paths into the industry,”
