Philippine low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific has announced plans to operate services between Manila and Sydney from September.
The airline says it will commence services on September 9 using new Airbus A330-300 equipment configured in a very high-density, nine-abreast, all-economy, 436-seat layout. Flights will initially operate four-times-a-week.
“We are very excited to launch this route, and boost travel to and from Australia with our low fares. Filipino expats can visit family and friends more often,” Cebu Pacific Air General Manager, Long-Haul Division, Alex Reyes said in a statement. “Australians looking for superb beach destinations now have more options that rival Bali and Phuket. The inbound market for Filipino tourists visiting Australia also has great potential.”
In a separate statement, Sydney Airport CEO Kerrie Mather said; “Sydney Airport is Australia’s largest international low cost carrier airport, so we’re well placed to welcome Cebu Pacific Air to Australia for the first time. Low cost carriers such as Cebu Pacific Air are increasingly popular with Australian travellers, and this new service will provide more choice and value for passengers travelling to and from the Philippines.”
Cebu operates a fleet of A330s, A320s and ATR aircraft. It flies to 34 destinations in The Philippines and 26 international ports, and is the largest Filipino airline.
