Jetstar has confirmed it is axing flights between Brisbane and Hamilton Island from October 20.

“Unfortunately, the route (which is one of the shortest on our network) has dropped in performance during the past 12 months,” a Jetstar spokesperson confirmed in a June 20 statement.

“This comes at a time where we are seeing costs that are outside of our control increase combined with an intensely competitive environment.”

Jetstar will continue to operate flights to Hamilton Island from Sydney and Melbourne, and from Brisbane to nearby Proserpine.
