The rush of orders at this week’s Farnborough Airshow has seen the order backlog for the Airbus A320neo Family exceed 3,000 aircraft.

Ordered by 57 customers since being launched in December 2010, the A320neo is the fastest selling jet airliner in history.

“We’ve given customers many reasons to prefer the A320neo Family and our customers have given us 3,000 reasons for making it the world’s favourite and fastest selling single aisle aircraft by far, Airbus’s COO Customers, John leahy said in a statement. “With 15 per cent reduced fuel burn, an additional 500nm range and the widest most comfortable cabin in its category, the A320neo Family is the single aisle aircraft of choice with 57 customers worldwide – twice as many as the competitor.”

The first A320neo was rolled out on July 2, and the aircraft is expected to enter service in late 2015.
