Air Chief Marshal Mark Binskin and the chair of the Aviation Safety Regulatory Review David Forsyth will headline this year’s Regional Aviation Association of Australia national convention in October.

Other speakers at the annual event, to be held from Wednesday October 8 to Friday October 10 in the NSW Hunter Valley, include Australian Transport Safety Bureau chief Martin Dolan and representatives from Airservices and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority. The new chief executive of Aviation New Zealand Samantha Sharif was also due to address delegates at the convention.

There were also a number of workshops to discuss issues affecting holders of Air Operators Certificates, engineers, instructors and educators.

A special presentation on the search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 was also planned, as well as a session dealing with critical incidents from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.

“The RAAA Convention is an excellent opportunity to develop technical knowledge, discuss major aviation issues, set industry directions, build important business relationships and enjoy the company of good friends,” the RAAA said in a statement.

Australian Aviation magazine is a silver sponsor of the event, to be held at the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley.
