Perth Airport received its second Boeing 787 Dreamliner operator on Sunday morning when Thai Airways flight TG483 landed at 0728 local time.

The six hour and 33 minute journey was Thai’s first flight to Perth using the 787-8, with the route previously been operated by Airbus A330 aircraft.

Thai Airways, which took delivery of its first 787-8 on July 17, has eight Dreamliners on order – six 787-8s and two 787-9s.

The Thai flag carrier’s 787-8s have 264 seats, with 24 in business and 240 in economy.

It will only be a short stint with the 787 however, as Thai planned to use the Dreamliner to Perth from September 20 to October 25 only. Airbus A330 aircraft will return to the route after that date, according to schedules filed in global distribution systems.

Air New Zealand was the first to start Dreamliner service to Perth, when NZ175 landed in the West Australian capital from Auckland on Friday September 12. The Kiwi flag carrier is using the 787-9 daily between Auckland and Perth.

Perth is the sixth Australian airport to receive 787 services alongside Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns, Gold Coast and Brisbane.
