Northrop Grumman has announced it has successfully completed a maritime sensor demonstration of its MQ-8B Fire Scout tactical Vertical Unmanned Aircraft System (VUAS).
The aircraft was fitted with a Telephonics radar and FLIR electro optical infrared system, and the demonstration was performed under a contract awarded in September by the US Coast Guard Research and Development Center.
The Fire Scout is currently in low rate production for the US Navy and US Army, and is under consideration by the USMC as an unmanned battlefield supply aircraft.
