The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) has thrown its support behind White Ribbon Night with a spectacular flypast of a C-17 Globemaster.
A pair of 4.3m tall white ribbons were applied to the fuselage of the 36 Squadron C-17 that flew over the Gold Coast and Brisbane on Friday.
The C-17 took off from RAAF Base Amerley at 1000 on Friday and headed north along the coast to Brisbane and the Gold Coast via Byron Bay and Tweed Heads, according to a post on the the RAAF Facebook page.
After reaching Stradbroke Island, the C-17 headed west and flew about 1,000ft above the Gabba in Brisbane at about 1130.
The aircraft, which was accompanied by a PC-9 trainer acting as a photochase, then followed the Brisbane River towards Toowong before returning to Amberley.
