Qantas is boosting its recently revived Perth-Singapore service to daily and adding a fifth weekly flight to Jakarta as part of seasonal frequency increases for the upcoming summer holidays.
There is also a planned boost on trans-Tasman services included in the more than 140 extra flights scheduled between the end of November and February, Qantas said on Tuesday.
“A key part of our strategy is listening to and responding to our customers’ needs and developing an agile and flexible network which offers more options during peak periods,” said Qantas executive manager of international sales Stephen Thompson said in a statement.
Qantas’s Perth-Singapore flights, which currently operate five days a week with Boeing 737-800 aircraft after launching in June, will increase to daily between November 30 and February 21 2016.
Meanwhile Jakarta will be served five times a week in the month between December 7 and January 10 2016, compared with four times a week currently.
“We are really pleased to be able to meet demand for travel between Brisbane and both Wellington and Christchurch with the return of direct services during December and January,” Thompson said.
“Our additional services to Singapore and Jakarta are also good news for customers travelling to destinations across Asia, with the daily frequency between Perth and Singapore over the holidays confirming that our decision to return to this route was the right one.”
Last Friday, Virgin Australia also announced seasonal capacity increases across its New Zealand and Pacific Islands network that were due to be added from late October.
“These increases represent more than 52,000 additional seats on trans-Tasman and Pacific routes during the 2016 financial year,” Virgin said in a statement.
