Alliance Airlines has signed a three-year contract extension with South32 covering the resources company’s operations in Queensland and the Northern Territory.

The contract extension is through to 2019 and covers South32’s silver and lead mine in Cannington (Queensland) and the Groote Eylandt Mining Company’s (Gemco) manganese mine in the NT, Alliance said in a statement on Monday.

Alliance said it had been serving Cannington since 2006 and Gemco since 2009.

The company said it had renewed eight contracts over the past 12 months. Further, Alliance recently won a five-year contract from Santos covering the oil and gas company’s operations in South Australia, as a contract with Toll Services for a weekly flight to Christmas Island.

Alliance also signed a strategic partnership with Virgin Australia in February for the fly-in/fly-out (FIFO) resource charter market.
