Company CEOs and members of the media in New Zealand have voted the national airline as the best at managing its reputation according to a survey by Senate Communications.

“Air New Zealand is top of mind as a company that deals well with situations that threaten its reputation. Survey participants said Air New Zealand’s public handling of the Perpignan air crash was a perfect example of how to manage a crisis,” said Neil Green, managing partner of Senate Communications.

“Its response was more than just text-book – it acted in ways that showed it really cared about its relationships and its impact on people.”

The Perignon crash refers to the crash of an Air New Zealand A320 off the cost of France in November 2008 during a test flight shortly before the aircraft was due to be handed back to the airline. Four Air New Zealand personnel and one New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority official on board the aircraft for the test flights were killed in the crash.
