Emirates is encouraging international students to travel the world and reunite with their family amid the COVID-19 pandemic by offering discounts on flights, additional baggage allowances, and booking flexibility.
In a push to see international students return to their pre-pandemic travelling habits of moving between their home and schooling countries, as well as countries all around the world, Emirates is offering student travellers special discounts on both economy and business fares.
Students and their travel companions will both be offered these discounted rates, as well as additional baggage allowances and free date changes up to seven days prior to travel, on tickets booked before 31 October.
All tickets booked have a maximum stay validity of 12 months.
As students often choose to study overseas in order to see and experience more of the world, Emirates hopes to encourage these travellers back out into the world.
“Millions of students have chosen to further their education in institutions outside of their home country, and data from the UNESCO Institute for Statistics shows that the figure is on a rising trend as young people become more savvy about their travel and education options,” Emirates said.
“In line with Emirates’ proposition as a global connector of people and places, the airline is launching this offer to encourage students to see more of the world and help them visit their families more often, with flexibility to amend their booking in case travel plans change.”
This international student offer will work in tandem with Emirates’ existing COVID-19 insurance offering, whereby the airline promises to cover its customers’ costs for healthcare should they catch the virus while travelling overseas.
The airline has committed to cover medical expenses up to $250,000 should a customer contract COVID-19 while travelling, which can be claimed up to 31 days after the first sector of the Emirates journey.
To be eligible for this cover, the first sector of this journey must be completed on or before 31 October 2020.
