Vienna-based communication and information software supplier Frequentis has purchased US company L3Harris Technologies’ Air Traffic Management business, in a US$20 million deal.
The deal will see Frequentis acquire L3Harris’ Air Traffic Management (ATM) voice communication systems product line, as well as L3 Harris’ Canadian Harris ATC Solutions Unit.
The agreement will also see Frequentis gain 100 per cent of the shares in two L3Harris subsidiaries, including Australia-based Harris C4i, and Germany-based Harris Orthogon.
Under the deal terms, Frequentis will continue to provide L3Harris with its voice communication products for us in large-scale services businesses.
The transaction is expected be completed in the second half of the year 2021 and is subject to competition clearance and regulatory approvals.
Frequentis said in a statement that the acquisition marks a “significant step” in its growth strategy, and will “complement” its existing portfolio in the civil and defence air traffic management sector, which includes recent acquisitions of Comsoft and ATRiCS.
Norbert Haslacher, CEO of Frequentis, said, “The acquisition enables us to grow our global customer base. Traffic optimisation is crucial, even and above all, in times of low traffic.
“It is our commitment to an efficient and environmentally sustainable air traffic management environment, driven by digitalisation and automation.”
Currently, Frequentis solutions can be found in over 30,000 operator working positions across 140 countries. The company holds around 30 per cent of the market share for air traffic control voice communication systems.
