Minister for Defence Materiel and Science, Greg Combet, has announced that 11 former Army and RAAF UH-1H Iroquois helicopters will be taken out of storage and put on display as gate guards and museum exhibits at locations around Australia.

The aircraft, which have been in storage in Brisbane since they were retired in 2007, will be put on display at RAAF Bases Townsville and Darwin, and at Army bases at Holsworthy, Oakey, Enoggera and Bandiana. An example will also be sent to the RAAF Museum at Point Cook, and one to the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.

An additional five Iroquois will be retained as training aids, while two will be offered for sale to RSL organisations for possible display.
