The International Air Transport Association (IATA) will hold its World Safety and Operations Conference (WSOC) in Marrakech, Morocco from 1-3 October 2024.
The conference, hosted by Royal Air Maroc, will focus on “Embracing Innovation and Technology for Safe and Efficient Operations” amid growing industry challenges.
IATA Director General Willie Walsh said the event would address complex operational issues facing airlines.
“WSOC 2024 is the forum for industry leaders and experts to share knowledge and experience to make the industry even more resilient and robust in the face of emerging challenges,” Walsh said.
Royal Air Maroc CEO Abdelhamid Addou highlighted the importance of safety as the airline expands.
“This is in particularly sharp focus at Royal Air Maroc as we embark on a major expansion to become a 200-aircraft airline by 2037,” Addou said.
The conference will feature speakers from major airlines, manufacturers and regulatory bodies, including Ethiopian Airlines CEO Mesfin Tasew Bekele and NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy.
Sessions will cover topics such as runway safety, AI applications, accident investigations and cybersecurity risks.
Workshops will address air traffic management efficiency, safety culture, and turbulence management using real-time data.
The event aims to help airlines navigate challenges like regional conflicts, cyber threats and extreme weather while leveraging technological advances to improve safety and efficiency.
