written by Newsdesk | September 18, 2024

Singapore Airlines Group has reported mixed operational results for August 2024, with passenger capacity growing faster than traffic while cargo operations saw significant improvement.

The group’s passenger capacity increased by 10.8% compared to August 2023, outpacing the 7.7% rise in passenger traffic.

This resulted in a lower overall passenger load factor of 85.7%, down 2.5 percentage points year-on-year.

Singapore Airlines and its low-cost subsidiary Scoot carried a total of 3.3 million passengers during the month, a 9.4% increase from the previous year.

Cargo operations showed stronger performance, with cargo loads rising by 20.9% year-on-year.

This growth was attributed to “sustained strength in e-commerce flows and some demand spillover from disruptions to sea freight,” according to the airline.

Cargo capacity expanded by 10.4%, leading to an improved cargo load factor of 56.1%, up 4.9 percentage points from August 2023.

At the end of August, the Singapore Airlines Group’s passenger network covered 125 destinations across 36 countries and territories.

Singapore Airlines served 78 destinations, while Scoot operated flights to 69 destinations.

The group’s cargo network comprised 129 destinations in 37 countries and territories.

In Australia, Singapore Airlines and Scoot currently operate over 160 weekly flights from seven cities, providing connectivity to the airline’s global network.

The airline continues to invest in enhancing customer experiences, including the expansion of its lifestyle rewards app Kris+ to Sydney and Melbourne, allowing KrisFlyer members to earn and redeem miles for non-air offerings.

Singapore Airlines has maintained a strong presence in Australia since 1967, connecting the country to the world through Singapore Changi Airport.
