British Airways to launch direct flights to Tbilisi from March 2025

written by Newsdesk | September 19, 2024

British Airways has announced it will begin operating direct flights from London Heathrow to Tbilisi, Georgia starting 30 March 2025.

The new route will operate four times per week, providing a connection between the two capital cities.

Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, expressed enthusiasm about the new route.

“We’re delighted to welcome Tbilisi back into our route network, after our last scheduled service in 2013,” Chernoff said.

“We expect this to be a popular route with the leisure market, which has seen a strong comeback since 2019, as well as with those looking to enjoy direct flights to visit friends and family.”

The flight schedule has been optimised to allow connections to other services from Heathrow, particularly to New York and European destinations not directly served from Georgia.

Mariam Kvrivishvili, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, welcomed the announcement.

“We are proud that flagship carrier British Airways has decided to enter the Georgian market, which is important recognition for our country,” Kvrivishvili said.

“This will significantly boost Georgia’s awareness within the UK market and improve connectivity with the USA, which is a strategic partner country of Georgia.”

Flights will be operated using Airbus A320neo aircraft, offering both Club Europe (business class) and Euro Traveller (economy) cabins.

Return fares start from £275, with British Airways Holidays offering two-night package deals from £369 per person.

The new route will allow customers from eight UK airports, including Edinburgh, Belfast and Manchester, to connect seamlessly to Tbilisi via Heathrow on a single ticket.

Georgia, located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, is known for its rich history, vibrant culture and 8,000-year-old winemaking tradition.
