written by Newsdesk | October 14, 2024

Delta Air Lines has announced a new nonstop route connecting Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) to Copenhagen Airport (CPH), set to begin operations in May 2025.

The service will operate three times weekly, expanding Delta’s European network from MSP to seven direct destinations.

Joe Esposito, Delta’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning, highlighted the significance of the new route.

“Delta continues to strengthen its global network and offers unparalleled access to Europe from Minneapolis-St. Paul with this new direct service to Copenhagen, one of Europe’s most vibrant and culturally rich cities,” Mr Esposito said.

The route is expected to benefit from Delta’s recently announced codeshare agreement with Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), providing customers with access to over 80 additional destinations beyond Copenhagen.

Brian Ryks, CEO of the Metropolitan Airports Commission, which operates MSP Airport, welcomed the expansion.

“Many Minnesotans are of Scandinavian heritage, and this new route offers great access to support deeper cultural ties and the continuation of cross-Atlantic business connections between our regions,” Mr Ryks said.

The service will be operated using Delta’s A330-300 aircraft, featuring Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin seating options.

Delta One passengers will enjoy lie-flat seating, premium bedding, and a chef-curated four-course meal, along with new amenity kits from Italian fashion house Missoni.

Peter Krogsgaard, CCO at Copenhagen Airport, expressed enthusiasm for the new route, noting its potential to attract more American visitors to Copenhagen and provide easy access to destinations across Europe.

The Minneapolis-St. Paul to Copenhagen route is scheduled to commence in May 2025, offering travelers increased connectivity between the Upper Midwest and Scandinavia.
