American Airlines has announced new winter routes to popular ski and wine destinations across the United States, including Sun Valley, Idaho, and Santa Maria, California.
The airline will launch service to Sun Valley from both Chicago and Phoenix starting December 18, providing connections from more than 150 destinations to the winter sports destination.
Additional new routes include expanded access to Fort Myers, Florida; Missoula, Montana; and Santa Fe, New Mexico, timed for the winter holiday season.
“American is focused on giving our customers the most options to pick the perfect vacation destination, and now there are even more ways to turn travel dreams into reality,” said Jason Reisinger, American’s Managing Director of Global Network Planning.
“Earning AAdvantage miles and status with American’s new summer routes is the perfect setup to planning winter holidays with friends and family,” he said.
Tickets for the new routes will go on sale starting June 30 through the airline’s website and mobile app.
The Sun Valley service will operate on dual-class aircraft, offering customers premium cabin options.
American will also launch flights to Aspen, Colorado from Charlotte, connecting the ski destination with more US cities than any other airline.
The airline will offer the only nonstop winter service connecting Missoula, Montana with Chicago.
American plans to operate more than 70 daily flights this winter to ski destinations.
The airline is expanding its Santa Fe, New Mexico service with new routes from Chicago and Los Angeles, complementing existing service from Dallas Fort Worth and Phoenix.
Santa Maria, California will become American’s 17th destination in the state when service launches October 15 with two daily flights from Phoenix.
American will be the only global network carrier serving Santa Maria.
The winter expansion also includes new international routes, with American launching its first-ever service to Puerto Escondido, Mexico and four new routes to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic in December.
During November and December, the airline will offer nonstop service between Phoenix and Fort Myers, Florida.
American has added more than 50 new routes in 2025, expanding its domestic network.
The airline operates thousands of flights daily to more than 350 destinations in over 60 countries as a founding member of the oneworld alliance.
