QantasLink has announced that it is adding capacity from Melbourne to Mildura, Launceston and Devonport  from February 1 as a result of the delivery of its 17th Bombardier Q400, which will be based in Melbourne. The new aircraft will see the airline add an additional weekly service to Devonport, while 13 of 26 return services

ATR announced on December 7 that Air Algerie has ordered four ATR 72-500s, valued at US$82m (A$89.8m) at list prices. Delivery of the four aircraft will take place during 2010, and they will join eight other ATR 72s in service with the airline.

Ian Calvert has been appointed the new CEO of CTC Aviation Training New Zealand. Calvert has been with CTC since 2003, and has been acting CEO since May following the retirement of John Jones.

Australian Aviation contributor Geoffrey Thomas was awarded the National Aviation Press Club’s ‘Airservices Australia Aviation Writer of the Year’ award on Friday night. Thomas, who is a senior editor for US based ‘Air Transport World’ and the aviation correspondent for ‘The West Australian’ newspaper, also won the ‘Embraer Aviation Feature Article of the Year’ category.

Aeromil Pacific has completed delivery of two new Cessna Grand Caravan 208B aircraft to the Queensland Section of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).
