Tiger Airways Australia has announced that its fleet of Airbus A320s will increase to 12 from early next year as the carrier takes delivery of an additional three aircraft.
Tiger is currently expecting its 10th A320 to arrive before the end of the year, with the aircraft to be stationed at its Melbourne Tullamarine base. This will be followed by two more A320s in early 2011, which it says will cement it as Australia’s fastest growing airline.
“Each aircraft provides over half a million additional low priced seats around Australia and all three new aircraft will create hundreds of new employment positions – so it’s a win-win for tourism, for the economy and for the consumer,” said Tiger’s managing director Crawford Rix.
Tiger currently operates from bases at Tullamarine and Adelaide Airport, while it will open its third base at Avalon in November.
