Hamilton Airport will receive a 300m runway extension and other upgrades.

Victorian Minister for Aviation Gordon Rich-Phillips has announced the state government will invest $1.4 million in Hamilton Airport in the state’s south-west as part of its $20 million regional aviation fund coalition program.

The money will go towards the airport’s redevelopment, including a 300 metre runway extension, a new turnaround, and upgraded runway lighting.

“These improvements will allow the runway to accommodate larger aircraft, which will be vital to the on-going economic development of the region,” the minister said in a statement. “Aviation is a vital contributor to the state’s economy and underpins our tourism and in-bound investment industries. It is also particularly significant for regional Victoria, connecting towns and regions with vital services and enabling quicker, more convenient travel for residents.”
