Latrobe Valley based GippsAero has announced a deal to market its GA8 Airvan in China.
The agreement with Jinggong Aviation will see the establishment of a new dealership in Xi’an, China and will help GippsAero appeal to China’s growing general aviation market, the company said.
The single-engine utility GA8 is suited for the Chinese market because of its versatility, low operating cost and ability to fly off of grass and undeveloped airstrips, the company said. There are currently 160 Airvans in use in 34 countries, with the aircraft working in tourism, air charter, freight, aerial survey and private operations.
The company said it will also work with Jinggong to market its upcoming 10 seat turbo-prop and 18 seat twin turbo-prop planes in China.
GippsAero was bought out by The Mahindra Group, an Indian automotive giant, in 2009.
